美国新线电影公司重拍经典恐怖片《猛鬼街》的《新猛鬼街》（A Nightmare on Elm Street ）2009年5月在芝加哥正式开机，由音乐录影带导演塞缪尔.贝尔执导。曾在《身为人母》中扮演“恋童癖”而获得奥斯卡提名的杰基.厄尔.哈利出演“弗雷迪”。影片由韦斯利.史翠克（Wesley Strick）担当编剧，影片将沿袭原作导演韦斯.克雷文的御用套路，把血腥杀人狂的刺激场面再度搬上银幕。《猛鬼街》系列是好莱坞影史上最著名的恐怖系列电影之一，从1984年开始陆续推出了七部，尽管七部影片得到的口碑和票房差次不齐，但并不影响该片的地位。《猛鬼街》讲述了梦中杀手弗雷迪会潜入别人梦中兴风作浪，最后以最凶狠的方式把他们送上西天。这个面部千沟万壑、手上带着钩子的超级杀人魔，也是好莱坞最著名的恐怖形象之一。。The series follows a group of six students about to embark on the most exciting period of their lives thus far University!
