偏处地方的东城大学医学部附属医院，凭借佐伯清刚（内野圣阳饰）出神入化般的“佐伯式”心脏二瓣膜修复手术而举国闻名，佐伯教授仪式般的黑色止血钳更为他增添了几许神话色彩。与之形成对立关系的，则是综合实力远在东城大之上的帝华大学医院部附属医院，该院的西崎启介教授（市川猿之助饰）与佐伯教授围绕着日本综合外科学会会长的宝座展开了激烈的角逐。为此，西崎派出得意门生高阶权太（小泉孝太郎饰）潜入敌营，试图通过最新的医疗器械撼动佐伯的地位。然而，佐伯麾下还有一个令所有医生头疼的人物。此人名叫渡海征司郎（二宫和也饰），他凭借高超的外科技巧拯救了一条条濒危的生命，但是毒舌外加阴暗的性格让他成为可怕的恶魔医生。怀着不可告人的目的，渡海卷入了佐伯和西崎的纷争之中…… 本片根据海堂尊的同名原作改编。。It's the fall of 1985.
